Honda Element Sessions at Vail

Objective
Position Honda vehicles as the vehicles for action sports enthusiasts by maximizing exposure as the title sponsor of the Honda Session at Vail event and engaging consumers at the “Honda Base Camp” on-site.

Program
Makai designed and created the “Honda Base Camp,” which included three 20’ igloo-domed tents with various interactive activities including a Playstation lounge area, an air hockey competition, a fire pit for s’mores and athlete autograph signings. Event staff distributed Honda branded bar-code cards throughout the venue to drive traffic back to the “Honda Base Camp” for instant win and sweepstakes opportunities encompassing CRM. The sponsorship included TV coverage, on-site signage, web links, and vehicle displays throughout the venue and in-town.

Result
Interacted with over 14,000 potential consumers on-site, with consumers spending substantial time within the Honda Base Camp engaged in the overall Honda brand experience. Makai extended reach of the event by gaining numerous media pick-ups, including OLN, Fuel, Vail Daily, Denver Post, Transworld Snowboarding.com & live radio interviews on KTUN, KKCH, KSMT through the sponsorship. The success of the sponsorship and activation led Honda to continue their title sponsorship of the Session.
